About halfway to Lac Supérieur, a fork in the road on your right is the Nordest scenic route that links with the Lanaudière region, towards Saint-Donat about 30 km away. This same road leads to the UQAM hiking and ski trails. Do you like rock climbing? You will be pleased to learn that there is a cliff face to try out on the road to Lake Rossignol, backed by the Quebec Federation of the Mountain Climbing.
Lake Superior is primarily known as the gateway to the largest provincial park in Quebec: Mont-Tremblant Park’s Diable Sector, known for its many outdoor activities including the Via Ferrata. Chemin du Lac Supérieur crosses Duplessis Road, which takes you to the North Side of the ski resort or to the Versant Soleil where the Casino is located. It also brings you to the south side of the mountain and the Tremblant ski village. For hiking fans, one cannot ignore the trails on Elephant Mountain and for lovers of history, the Fortunat David saw mill established in 1891, located on the road of the same name. The municipality was founded in 1881 under the name "Municipality of Canton Wolfe" and its first settlers were Canadians repatriated from California and the western USA. Over the years, the territory underwent several annexations and dismantling of territory, resulting in the formation of a number of adjacent municipalities, leaving the current municipality with an area of 380.36 km2 today. |
