Aerobic Corridor (58 km)Former route of the railway linking Morin-Heights to Saint-Remi Amherst, this linear park invites mountain bicyclists looking for a safe wilderness experience. Less busy, the Corridor offers 58 km of trails through natural landscapes dotted with lakes, lush valleys and spanning the fabulous Red River. Experience nature in its purest form! For those of you who have ridden the P'tit Train du Nord bikeway, you will find a special pleasure in trying this one too. This track was also created following the redevelopment of a railway abandoned by the CN in the early 1960s. It is easy and safe, except perhaps a small section between Arundel and Weir, where the track follows along the main road. It is advisable to travel this section with caution, especially with young children. Unlike the P'tit Train, it is not covered with a fine stone dust but rather sandy gravel. Therefore it is better to use mountain or hybrid bikes with wider tires. And unlike the P'tit Train du Nord, this Corridor meanders through fairly wild terrain and it is worth taking the entire day to explore the attractions. This track is used much less than most other bike paths, so it also would be prudent not to travel alone or at least notify someone of your itinerary, in case you would reach your destination as planned. |
